Default Hello Everybody

Hi. My name is brandon, and I'm new to the mustang community. I have a 93 Dodge Dakota, but now I'm selling that and buying an 86 5.0L GT. I got a good deal on it, and couldn't resist buying it. The only problems that I can find is that second gear is gone (its a 5 speed). That isnt a big problem for me, because my friend's dad owns a tranny shop and said he could help me out. The for sale sign said that it has a 5.0 Cobra Crate Motor. Is there any way that I can figure out if it actually does? It has a lot of power, but I'm not sure if it is a crate motor. I know it has a cobra intake, and yellow (accel?) injectors. Any recomendations for easy modifications for power tweaks? Also, should I install traction bars and/or frame connectors? I plan on running this at a local drag strip some during the summer, but still want it streetable. And, where can I find, and what size tires should i use? I know it has a 4 lug pattern, and currently has the stock 14" rims, but what are some good looking 15" rims. I want 15" rims because tires arent too expensive. Probably something like a 15x 6 up front, and a 15 x 8 in the rear, possibly with 275/60r15's on rear? I also want some decent tires, designed for summer driving, and a z rating.

Thanks for any help!

Hey Brandon, welcome to the forum. you should get the wider tires. i have 18x9 on my 2001 mustang and they do look alot better than the skinnier tires.

I dont have any picts yet. I'm going to repaint it this winter. The previous owner got in a little accident and banged up the front right quarter panel. He repainted it, but you can tell the difference. I will probably repaint it black like it already is. Any thoughts on any special accents to add ( pin striping or wide stripes, ect). Also...on another area of it....mine has the electronic cluster. how high will the speedometer read? I've seen a lot of people using convential guages switching to the 140 mph speedos, but what about the electronic ones?
Thanks!!
