Default Newbie Here Got Some Questi

Hello, Let me introduce myself. My name is Sara and I am from Arkansas. I am 22 years old and I have always dreamed of having a 1965-1969 Mustang Drop Top. Well they are few and far in between anymore, to find one in decent condition anyway. My parents own a 84.5 Anniversary Edition 5.0 Mustang GT, candy apple red drop top *drools*

Anyway, I am looking into the next few months purchasing a 1998+ Mustang. Now my questions would be: Has anyone experienced any MAJOR problems with any of those years IE engine transmission etc., what is a good model to have, keep in mind I do also have a soon to be 4 year old daughter. I do NOT want a V8 as I am afraid my insurance would sky rocket with one. Is there anything I should know more about the 1998 and up Mustangs. I am learning about these cars and hope you will all help me out.

Thanks

well any of the cars are great you will have flaws in any car just find one that really catches your eye and take it to a mechanic that you trust and have them go over it with a fine tooth comb. welcome to the forum. if i can do anything for you just ask.

the 99 body styles are different and i think they look much better, finer lines and clear/smoke front headlights, i heard its definately worth it to get the mach sound system. how much are you looking to spend, miles etc?

Well, I've got my eye on a '99 dark metallic blue drop top. I havent been to the dealership yet to look at it. I'll probably willing to go up to 20,000 granted they can work with me on payments and help with sales tax. Miles Id prefer under 50,000 BUT if I was to find a car with say 65,000 that I love Id go for it.

I do know that my current car isnt going to last much longer. Its a 1991 Camaro RS with 188,760 miles on it. Which at first I thought about getting a newer Camaro but Im not too big on how the new ones look. For me a car has got to have looks, sleek design, good suspension, (i like to corner fast), good engine. Etc etc.

I wish my parents would give me theirs. It KILLS me!! Its sitting up for past 4 years because it needs 4 new tires (metric about 250 a pop) and now it need the engine re-built. They only made 1600 of that car, 1st year 800 were wrecked. Last time dad checked there was 2 left in our state and ones in my yard. My grandmother was the orginal owner of it.

If you go thru a dealership do not buy any tupe of alarms paint protection or extra detail/ washes. They will rip you off on these extras. I work for a dealership and the mark-up on these are crazy. If you plan on keeping the car do get a extended warranty get one that matches your needs and the options the car has. If it has no power options windows locks ect. get one that does not cover these items. Good luck and enjoy the new ride

I bought a 2000 white w/tan top (vert) 6 shooter for only 10,225. less than 20K miles.......shop around......

ps - in most states if you have a daughter/son even if you are young your insurance rate will drop. -- I know, I have a 21 yr old daughter who just had a baby and her insurance dropped considerable. I guess they consider a mother to be responsible and remain home more often now ...(I guess they don't know my daughter....hahaha..just kidding!)

Sara,

I own a 98 v6 mustang and love it. It is actually a v6 Steeda clone and I have done all the work myself. I bought the car brand new and I have not had any problems whatsoever (knock on wood). Mine is chrome yellow and has been sitting in the garage since April under a car cover. Buy a yellow one-I think they look the best. Good luck.

Yellow rocks.

Not only does it look great on a car, but it's also hard to tell if it's dirty if you're lazy
