i just bought a v6... 2003... and let me tell you, there's about 5 billion autos out there and no manuals. i only found about 5 within a 500 mile radius. the car i bought is a 12 hour drive away. i almost shipped one across the country.
go with the 5 speed no matter what model you get... but with the v6 you may have to look around quite a bit!

 

spent the day looking on the net at dealers in florida, just found 2002 v6 in blue just outside ft.lauderdale, a place called Dixie cars, and its a manual with only 34k on the clock, will call dealer straight after holidays, can you think of anything i would need to ask about the car, as being new to the whole u.s car scene im not sure what to realy look for technicaly, just to make things worse the missus is now telling me she would like a soft top stang!!!!!!![:@]
