Just bought a 1968 Fastback C code
I just bought my dream car Ive always wanted. 68 mustang fastback C code. (Ive always wanted a mustang fastback anycodes aside) It looks good in its pics but needs to be restored. Rust from a naked eye isnt bad at all except the frame rails and a little underneath in 2 spots. Im trying to decide weather to just give to a shop who does everything to the car or give it to the body man and do everything individually. Its been sitting in storage since 1982 and had a cheap enamel job done to it sometime before. The interior is descent but needs carpet, some stiching, and some door handle parts and other small stuff.I need to figure out where to find parts at a decent price.like interior kits and the exterior trim kits. It needs the unerside chrome, tail lite chrome and reflectors, grill chrome trim and etc. also where to buy the windshield, its got a good crack around the mirror.Any advice and info on where to start would be awesome. I dont want to totally frame off the car because I want to drive it, I wouldnt buy a car like this if its just gonna sit and look pretty. It needs at least 1 frame rail replaced because the spring is in the trunk so im sure the other needs done also. here is the ebay site with pics to see what it is.

RE: Just bought a 1968 Fastback C code
Very nice car, and it looks like a great price too! Keep us updated on the improvements. I would recommend getting it dipped, if you plan on keeping it for a while, and possibly taking it to shows. If not, looks like you could make it presentable yourself.

RE: Just bought a 1968 Fastback C code
Thanks, Im glad to have joined. I feel better having someone said I got a great deal. I thought I better pick up a fastback before they become completely unaffordable. I would love to restore the car myself but I barely make it home. I few states away on projects thru out the year. The car has sat for over 25 years, I was curious on what I should do about the gas tank, its been drained for quite some time but should it just be replaced or is there some type of cleaner i can put in to make sure its safe to use. the engine seems to run fine, we ran it off a gas source other then the tank. The tranny and brakes seem to work also but iam sure the seals all need replacing. I think my only option is to give the car to a shop to take care of everything, It takes away the fun of doing it yourself but I cantlet the car just sit. It doesnt seem right.
