Default new grrl needs help!

Edit**I'm sorry for posting the question in the wrong area! Anyway, Hello everyone. I'm obviously a newbie from the St. Louis area..who needs alot of advice when it comes to my car

hey there all! I hope someone here can help me out. Today when I went to start my 95 mustang, the key would not budge forward. I ran up to Autozone and picked up a new cylinder and went back to change it out, but for the old one to be released out of the steering colum the key has to be in the "run" position. So, how the heck to I get it to release if it won't turn to run? Please help.

EDIT: Welcome to the forums.

Did you check to make sure the wheel just didn't lock? I know the first time that happened to me I was like wtf? If that isn't the problem I'm not too sure, check with the guys in the 5.0 Mustang subforum.

A big hammer! J/k, welcome to the board. Not sure about that one, but have you checked to make sure the steering wheel is not locked and in a bind? Sometimes, when you park a car and lock the steering column, the key will not turn. Try moving it side to side and wiggle the key. Its worth a shot. I hate to have to tear in to the column and remove it as a unit.
