Default new to ford mustang

Hi
You may hate to hear this but am a 45 year chevy guy that bought a 67 mustang coupe. It is bacically a basket case and I hate to assemble what I did not break down. I have 2 6 cylinder engines but would like to go to an 8 cylinder. I have a line on a 351m/400 with a trans. would this fit in? Not all the steering linkage is there so I am uncertain on oil pan clearance not to mention the floor tunnel looks mighty small. Please help me convert to the oval.
Thanks
Den

You do have a project. I would love to be able to comment, but my knowledge is lacking. Please visit the guys in the Classic Section. https://mustangforums.com/forumid_18/tt.htm, they can help you get your pony back together and answer the questions you have. Oh, and welcome to the board!

You do have a project. I am into the early cars, restored a 65 CV and working on a 67 FB. Also just purchased a 93 CV for my fun car.. I recommend subscribing to Mustang Monthly. They have had many articles about putting the 289/302's in the 6 cylinder engine cars. No small task. Need to change to the 5 lug wheels, etc, etc. Don't know about a different engine/transmission. Good luck.
