Default New here with question

I have had a few mustangs back in the late 80's and early 90's and thoughtI would get back into one. My question is why are the prices so high? I live in Michigan and most of the mustangsI look at are way over priced. I look at there asking price and thenI check NADA book prices and wow! These people are smoking crack. I look at 91, 92, 93, and a few of the 95's. Most of these cars are just plain jane LX or GT that have 100,000 mi or more and book price for a loan is $4500 or less and most people want $7000 or more. So if I bought one at there asking price I would be in the negative $$$. I just looked at a 1988 Corvette that I could have bought for$7000 and the NADA for it was $10,000 which is a much better investment. I don't want to buy a Vette, I had a few and my love is for another Mustang. Any thoughts???

Welcome to the forums. Unfortunately the publicity of the mustang has made people think that they are worth more than what they should be. I would say either wait for someone to come to their wits, or try and broaden your search, as in look into craigslist, cars.com, autotrader, and the list goes on and on if you haven't already. Also maybe enlarge your search range as well, because when browsing for foxes I found that if I search for cars a bit further than just around where I live I find much better deals and more cars to choose from. I hope I'm not beating a dead horse with these suggestions, but since I don't know if you have tried these I figured I would throw my two cents in.

I think it depends on the area you live as well, some people get them dirt cheap because they're not in demand there... around here I guess they're not too badly priced, but I haven't been in the market for one in a while.

It's also summer, so people are looking for mustangs and especially verts... atleast people are buying nice new cars around here.

Welcome! Keep looking, something will turn up.
