OK.... I've got a 91 LX 5.0, garage kept car, 70,000 miles, 5 speed. I just bought it, the only mods done so far are 2 chamber Flowmansters, Cut off the 2 rear cats, and Moroso Cold Air Intake. My next planned mods are BBK Shorties, Flow Tech H (or X) Pipe, and 70 MM Throttle Body. Is this an OK plan or should I just get the Cobra Intake and 70 MM Throttle Body and leave the exhaust as is for now. What's my next best move for the buck?</P><edited><editID>karma279</editID><editDate>37893.435162037</editDate></edited>

THAT'S THE THING ABOUT LONG TUBES. YOU'VE GOTTA GEAR THE CAR TO MAKE UP FOR THE LOSE OF BOTTOM END TORQUE FOR WHICH LONG TUBES ARE NITORIOUS. HORSEPOWER IS SOMETHING TO BRAG ABOUTWHEREAS TORQUE IS WHAT GET YOU DOWN THE TRACK.</P>
WITHOUT INVESTING IN CAMS, INTAKE AND HEADS YOU WILL SEE THE SAME OUTPUT RESULTS FROM SOME SHORTIES. SAME GOES FOR EQUAL LENGTH SHORTIES vs UNEQUAL. WITHOUT INTERIOR ENGINEMODS YOU WON'T NOTICE THEM. </P>
SHORTIES CAN BE WORTH 8-15HP FOR AROUND $200.00. LONGTUBES ARE GOOD FOR 8-20HP FOR AROUND $350.00, BUT YOU NEED TO SPEND SOME $$$ TO SEE THAT LAST 5HP FROM LONG TUBES.</P>

On a 4.6 Mustang for example, a set of long-tube headers picks up about 10 HP to the wheels in the low power band, and tops out at about 5 HP above peak. Thepower gain lasts throughout the whole RPM range.</P>
One thing to note, don't even waste your money on shorties. The power gain, if any, is very negligible, and isn't worth the price of shorties. Spend the extra money and get some long-tubes. It will pay off, trust me.</P><edited><editID>USAMuscle</editID><editDate>37894.9661342593</editDate></edited>
