restore etiquette
I recently purchase a restore project. My first MUSTANG!!! I am now faced with the task of picking a color, interior, wheels and so on. I've decided to keep the look as stock as possible but I'm leaning towards a color that isn't stock (smooth baby blue) and I'm thinkg of using a Parchment interior kit. Parchment is a 66' color while the correct color for 65 is Palamino. Does this take away from the value of my car. Also, I looked at the door tag and realized the tag on door doesnt match the numbers under the hood. How much does this affect value.

ok 1 the value of the car is more if all the numbers match, exterior and interior color does matter as well as wheels and all the good stuff under the hood...be them numbers colors or parts...personaly i could care less its a mustang and a part here or there from one of its dead brothers or sisters is just as good as its origonal but thats me, a collector on the other hand would pick that car appart before they took it off your hands, now factory bloopers on the other hand say little things like missing paint....weird marks in the paint in places like under the trunk or hood...those types of things give a old classic car more character.
2 i would say if your not going to try and win any trophys for origonality contests paint it whatever color floats yer boat...and put any interior pattern or color you want...people will still appreciate it for the awsome car it is...and you will like it more because its what you want.

As far as what it does to the value...That really depends on whos looking at it. If it's a hardcore collector then it doesn't matter. They usually won't want the car without the number matching anyway. If it's just some guy that really likes blue '65's, then it's obviously worth more to him.
