new car purchase V6 vs V8
Son in law is looking topurchase new 08 Mustang for a daily driver. Must be automatic. His daily work commute is 70 miles round trip and he keeps his cars 10 plus years. He likes the look of the pony package but is mainly concerned with long term reliability of powertrain components. Is it worth the extra $4,000 to go with the GT?
I see that the 4.0 liter has a cast iron block and aluminum heads, vs the all aluminum 4.6. Will the 4.6 hold up better in high mileage use?
Any opinions from forum experts would be greatly appreciated.

both blocks are steel sleeved... the aluminum was used to reduce weight by 75lbs...
1) what do you consider high mileage ?
2) alot depends on what "style" of driver he is, as to whether either one will hold up x miles.
3) he'll get better gas mileage with the v6
but i'm sure there are others with more knowledge than i, try posting this question in the Tech section of the forums..
