Intro...
Hi - my name is Rick, and I own a 1998 V6 Mustang. I bought it a couple of years ago, from the first owner. It's been a great car, just turned over 80,000 miles, and it looks close to showroom new (except for the spoiler; clear coat is flaking off; that's another story).
But -
Things are starting to act up. So, I've joined this forum for advice and commiseration. For example, the other day, the driver side power window became misaligned or something. I now have to work the window a bit to get it up and down while holding the switch either up or down. I know I'll be pulling the door panel this coming weekend to troubleshoot. Also, the passenger door switch started acting up (probably connected to the window issue somehow), and the chime wouldn't shut off nor would the dome light go off, even with the car turned off and keys removed from the ignition.
So, I found some good advice and troubleshooting ideas from this forum by searching the archives, and decided it would be a good idea to register. As time goes on, and the car gets older, I'm sure I'll need advice, counsel, and pity.
You might have guessed that I'm a shade tree mechanic, going way back. Sometimes that gets me into trouble, sometimes it saves me a whole lot of money (which is always in short supply). But I always enjoy getting my hands dirty; it's therapy after sitting in a cubicle five days a week.
Thanks for having me onboard!
Rick
