Hi from Gulf Breeze, FL
I've been a LX Dodge fan for years. I've had a 2005 Dodge Magnum RT for about 2 years now. A few months ago I started taking it to the drag strip and got hooked on racing. The problem has been that even though I have close to 360hp it weighs 4000 pounds and Dodge aftermarket parts are expensive.
So two weeks ago I decided to put the Magnum back in the garage and look for a track car. I decided on a 2001 Mustang GT 5 speed I found with 68K miles. Only mods are flowmasters and cats cut out. Over the next month I'm going to try to get it over 300hp with the help of this forum.
Last night I ran almost the same 1/8 mile times as I did in the Magnum with 100 less hp, so I'm sold on the Mustang for a great car to race. I hope to get lots of knowlege and help from everyone.
My starting plan at first is drag radials, tuner, 3.73 gears, and what ever else anyone recommends.

Oh yeah by the way, I had 7 runs last night on the 1/8 mile. My first was a 9.58 ET with all the rest right around 10 even. My 60ft times were bad because I'm still on street tires, they were all around 2.3 - 2.4 sec. Do these times sound about right for a pretty much stock 5 speed on street tires?
