what engine size
Hello I currently bout a 89 mustang lx hatch and need a smog cheak but I am not sure what engine size my car came with stock. The 17th number on the vin is 6. Can anybody out there help me figure out if this is the original engine it came with

I assume you'd know if you had a 5.0 V8 or not, and that since you don't mention that, it is not. The other regular option then was a 2.3L 4-cylinder... Which was my first Mustang, whew 20 years ago now...

It has a 5.0 but I wasn't sure if any lx had a 5.0 stock I live in california so I needed to no for smog purposes thank u for the help

Aha... Yes, there were indeed LX 5.0s... I believe the difference was in appearance, the LX 5.0 did not have the ground effects and spoiler that the GT had, among other possible differences. Also, I think the LX 5.0 was available in hatch and coupe, while the GT was only hatch...
