Smile My First Post

Hello fellow Mustang enthusiasts,

My name is Dave and I'll be picking up my white 98 V6 Mustang on Wednesday. I guess we could say it was bequeathed to me by my father who passed away in May of 2013. Don't let anyone fool you into thinking Estate proceedings can be quick and painless, but I can write more about that later.

The vehicle has been in and out of storage since, driven a little by his widow who doesn't want it but couldn't release it to me, or anyone else, until other issues with the estate had completed. As the car is now titled to me and I will be picking it up soon, it has crossed my mind that I might want to engage with a community of folks who may know more about these cars and are willing to share their knowledge (and their enjoyment) of them.

The vehicle has 68,000 miles (give or take a few) and runs and drives but has some cosmetic issues -- Dad's widow seemed to have the crazy idea that bumpers are supposed to be used to actually bump things... anyway... aside from some bumper damage (which I believe I can repaint myself) the only known issue is the inside of the driver-side door panel which likes to pop out of place.

I can post pictures of everything after I pick it up (my cell phone just doesn't take good pictures and the thing needs to be washed anyway). Does anyone have any advice for me as it pertains to dealing with car that has had minimal miles put on it in the last couple years?

I hope you are well and I look forward to getting to know some of you. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum, sorry for your loss.

Tips would be fresh gas and oil, then drive it. A couple bugs might have to be worked out, but you can start a new thread in the Tech Section with those. Good luck

Welcome, my Dad was a Ford owner. 65 Galaxie 500 was dual exhuast 352 if I remember. I had a 67 Camaro. Tech can help you get the pony back in shape for a run through the twisty's!

Default Some Photos

Hello Friends,

Here are some pictures of the car in case anyone is curious:

If you can't tell from the photos, my daughter is probably more excited than I am about it!

I do have some light bulbs in back to replace (not surprised) but there are enough lights working to be completely legal. Headlights work find but are foggy -- I've priced replacements online at about $50. Funny how the headlights are foggy but the turn signal lights are absolutely clear...

In all, I am not disappointed. I may have questions about mostly cosmetic fixes but I'll post them in the appropriate forum at a later time.

Please be well!
