Default Brake Fitment

I have a 2004 mustang gt. I just got new wheels and they are very open and the rotors and calipers can easily be seen. I'm wanting to upgrade brakes. A friend told me that the brakes off of a 2012-2014 would fit on my car and not cause any problems. I was wondering if anyone had a for sure answer on if they will fit?

The most common brake upgrade for 1979-2004 Mustang are the Cobra/PBR (picture above) 2 piston calipers with 13" rotors. This is probably the most cost effective and proven brake upgrade for 79-04 Mustangs.

If you are looking for a 4 piston or 6 piston caliper, Wilwood, Baer and Brembo all offer complete kits. 2000 Cobra R Mustangs came with Brembo brakes from the factory and Ford Racing/Brembo kits may still be available.

Welcome to the forum Sawyer, glad to have you. But next time you have any Tech questions, start a new thread in the appropriate Tech Section for your year car. Just to keep the forum organized. Good luck in your brake upgrade.
