Question Car wont start, just clicking noise

1966 mustang wont start, only makes a clicking noise. Ive had this problem once before and I charged the battery, it started right up. Once I cut the car off it wouldn't start again. I replaced the starter, solenoid and the battery. Its stilll making the clicking noise. Any ideas of what it could be.??

Welcome to the forum.

The clicking sound is the starter solenoid. Either the new solenoid is bad (has happened to me twice) or there's other reasons.

Is the new battery fully charged and has at least 12.5 volts ?

Are the cable's and all connections clean and tight ? At the battery, solenoid, and starter ?

I've also seen a bad cable, from the solenoid to the starter, where the insulation was cut and allowed moisture in and corrode the cable from the inside out.

This is usually a simple fix, you just have to find the cause. Your solenoid or starter is not getting 12v to start.

Good luck

Could be the alternator is not charging the battery. Have the alternator tested.
