Default Noob from KCMO

Horse showed up in my driveway.
I picked up a well broken in '07 V6 Coupe for my daughter so I figured it would be prudent to sign up and glean some info.

Now that the introduction is out of the way...

Thanks. I'm pretty active on a Toyota Tundra forum and, by comparison, this one seems kinda slow as far as traffic goes.

Good looking Mustang. The windveil blue is a pretty rare color.

With the 4.0, watch for coolant leaking out of the thermostat housing. Some last a long time and others go quickly. If you go to the S197 4.0 section you will find threads about it. It is an easy fix when it happens, and there is an aluminum version available now from a seller on Amazon

Thanks Jim, that plastic T-stat housing will be one of the first things to go away. Preemptive strike, so to speak. I'm having trouble finding solid info on timing chain guides. Heard lots of horror stories about the 4.0 in the Expoders and Rangers, but I'm not sure if the 4.0 in the S197s had the same issues. I'll be spending time digging through timing chain threads for sure.
This is the first horse in the family since I let go of my '90 5.0 LX car.

Never had any problems with my 2006. And I ran 2 years with a 75 shot of nitrous on it - then with 90,000 miles pulled the nitrous and installed the Xcharger Xtreme. Made hundreds of passes on that. I sold it in June 2012 with 203,000 miles on it, still running mid 12's. The guy I sold it to just sold it to collector and said it had over 245,000 miles on it and was still running strong.

That's good to hear as this one has 235K on the odometer. The engine is still crazy quiet so I had no reservations paying the $3500 asking price. Pretty sure I heard a u-joint squeak as I took off from a stoplight, but at that mileage, I expect to do some maintenance on it. My first pile of parts arrived today. New take-offs...
