Should I trade
Currently have a 2016 ecoboost, I have a dealership willing to trade me a 2015 v6 convertible. Only reason I even want to do this is because it's a convertible. On the other hand I'm a student and don't want to be spending the extra money on gas. Not really sure what to do can anyone tell me how big the gas mileage difference even is? Also would appreciate any other opinions, thanks.
OP it's your money but as a student, you have higher priorities. Verts come with their own set of problems (Noise and added care being the first two).
That and while I would normally argue in favor of more cylinders, the Ecoboost offers more power potential than a V6 just because of the Ecoboost setup. A simple tune and the Ecoboost will eat the V6 for lunch while chomping at the heels of the V8.
Because if a dealer is proposing an even swap, he's losing money. They will take his car and mark it up in price so it's a win-win for the dealer. They already own the V6 which they probably paid bottom dollar for. Now they're willing to trade it to him for a marked up V6 price while giving him bottom dollar on his existing vehicle...

Lol you cant be that naive
OP didnt give any specifics, but typically ecoboosts are premium models with all the gee-wiz features, and V6s are bare bones base models/rental fleet fodder. The ecoboost is higher on the mustang food chain, it costs more. All that considered, OP's car is also a year newer.

it's business.
they want to sell new vehicles, not old;
OP can sell his privately, then deal with the dealership, sure.
