Default Please help

Hello, so I just purchased a 2002 Mustang, is an automatic V6 convertible. It’s my first Mustang and I love the way the car looks but I’m having a bit of issues with it and I’m hoping is not the transmission. When test drive the car it sounded good, it run good so I didn’t think twice. The car runs good as long as I keep it under 40 mph, it has not problem going from 1st to 2nd to 3rd but once I pass 40mph and it makes the switch I automatically loose power and the car won’t go any more until I drop the speed and the RPMs all the way to literally 0 and then it runs perfect again until I get pass 3rd. Any advice? I don’t want to rush into replacing the transmission. Thank you very much want
