Default How to shut up my annoying anti-Mustang-Porsche-snob friend?

I just recently took out a 2018 GT 10 speed for a test drive and was totally blown away.

I told my cork-sniffing, Porche-owning friend about the crazy speed and acceleration of this car. He immediately responds that 1) "..it's a great car if I only want to in a straight line", and 2) "a car without a proper chassis requires more from the driver."

How do I shut him up?

thanks.

Why does it bother you in the first place? He's right...

The only way you shut him up, is to buy a better Porsche.

Like I care what he thinks. It's my car, I need/want to drive it, and I'm having fun doing so. If I cared that much about his opinion, I'd have gotten a Porsche. Although he's likely to still talk smack about the Porsche stating it needs this and that to make it better.

As to his complaints specifically... Can't say I had that much issues with my car and USA rentals (including a 10) to get it to where I wanted to go. The higher driver requirement he states just means you're more involved with the car and driving, and thus having more fun.

What Neko says in spades about the driver involvement. You can buy 2 or 3 Mustangs for the price of a Porsche. Yes it is a great car, no doubt, but just not worth the money to me. Service costs, replacement parts costs, off the charts for the Porsche. Let him whine about his car, you know better.

Seriously? You can buy 3 Mustangs to 1 Porsche? Damn... I kinda hate you guys for your gas prices, but now for the prices of cars too

If I buy a new Porsche here (of what I just briefly saw of the prices) vs a new Mustang here, they're pretty evenly matched. Mostly since the CO2 emission tax kicks up the price immensely (some 69k euro for the EB, and upwards from 111k euro for the GT).

A typical Porsche in the states starts around $70k and by the time you put wheels and tires, AC, paint, radio, engine, etc it ends up around $110+K. Everything is an option on a Porsche. I easily added $25K to one just trying to get it the way I wanted. Ridiculous.

I think he just complimented your driving ability.

2018 BASE MODELS:
718 = $60,000
911 = $91,000
Panamera = $85,000
Macan = $48,000
Cayenne = $68,000

The 911 is the only one paying for ALMOST three new ones.

The subject is performance of the vehicles, not bells and whistles...

Even the low end 911, 370 hp, 331 lb-ft from the flat 6, and can go 420/368, to
450/405

300 HP from the 718, 0-60 4.9 seconds.

Macan base, 340 hp, 339 lb-ft

You even see what RADIO is in them? C'mon....
BASE Macan has CD/DVD drive, 11 GB internal jukebox storage, 2 USB slots, 2 SD card slots,
Bluetooth hands-free mobile phone connection, SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio, Sound Package
Plus w/8 speakers, 150 watts, 7-inch TFT display, RDS double tuner radio, MP3 compatible single
disc CD/DVD player and universal audio interface (Aux-In, USB, iPod).

2018s, all have the turbo flat-6, except the 718....

C'mon, Porsche -vs- Mustang? Though I could care less for Porsche, if someone were
giving me a new Mustang or new Porsche, I am taking the Porsche... Or, for some odd
reason either for the SAME price, I am taking the Porsche... Porsche or Challenger, I
take the Challenger.

You all take this way too seriously trying to prove your points. Don't you understand when someone is being factitious?

Factitious, pronounced "fac-TISH-us," means "fake," like a factitious compliment you give the
person who said your mustang was as good as a Porsche, and doesn't mean it, but you say it
anyway, just to be nice.

Or, do you mean Facetious, pronounced "fuh-see-shuh s", meaning joking or jesting often inappropriately;
like a person saying your Mustang is better than a Porsche, and laughs after saying it.
