Hello out there. Just purchased a 2008 Shelby GT500 with 1500 original miles. Ebony clearcoat with black interior. I already see this beast will need to see open road to compliment the 6-speed gearbox. I feel lucky to find this one. It came with the original window sticker and Bill of Sale.
Looking forward to reading and learning.

Welcome to the forum, congrats on finding an 08 with that little mileage.
If it didn't come with records of how it was maintained, I would be looking to change some fluids..

Glad you made that point. So, is it imperative to use strictly MotorCraft fluids in these cars? What other alternative brands of oils and filters are top shelf choices?

Thanks,

George

Oil is like tires & exhaust components, everybody has preferences.
Royal Purple is popular with the GT500 crowd, I don't use it.
I am not brand loyal on oil, 5-50 full synthetic costs $ 10 / qt. when not on sale, so I look for a sale. On the oil filter I use a top shelf Napa filter, which is made by Wix.

I agree on all counts! Although I'm leaning towards either Motorcraft or Mobil1. Yes on the WIX filter. Someone once said "Oil is the cheapest insurance you'll ever buy".

I would change out the fluids. I'm a big Amsoil fan and have done that fluid change(engine, trans, rear end) on all the Mustangs I've had. I just purchased a 03' Mustang GT with 12,000 miles on, changed the fluids included bleeding the brake lines which was bad.Make sure you check he fuel line to see if any junk is in the tank...it'll plug your fuel filter and injectors.
Enjoy your new ride whatever you do.
