Have an 08 Bullitt. 4.6L Stroker putting out 1000hp. The builder converted it to auto but made the mistake of throwing in the TCI Super Street Fighter. Trans is junk but I will say that it didn't help having a 3600 stall converter on a street driven car with no trans cooler. Im not going to convert it back but I'm currently looking into the 4R70W. PA has one rated at 950hp. I know they have a good rep and really considering it. Anyone have any other options that may be helpful before I go this route? Thank you for your time!

"Tiger" correct? Yeah great guy talked with him after buying. He gave me the low down on the trans after buying. I tried saving it but this is the 3rd time. So time to go another route.

 

Yes, "Tiger" - when you wrote the description I thought it sounded like his car that he sold this past year. Terry is the only one I know of who did a conversion to an automatic in a Bullitt.

 

Yeah man it's definitely not common from what I seen. But I like that about it. Too many people go the same route. Sucks that the trans has to be the weakest link.

 

 

Are you trolling or are you helping with hidden messages? Not sure the goal here but I will be great either way regardless of input or lack thereof. I just figured that this website was for car enthusiasts that love to communicate and share info.

 

I was just talking with Terry. He said that a built up 4r70 was suggested by DBR Performance in Springhill, TN and they are already familiar with the car. MIght be worth talking with them.

 

Yep thats exactly what I'm looking to put in there. Performance Automatic has one rated at 950 hp and I have not been able to find hardly any negative reviews on the company or their transmissions unlike TCI. Will likely go that route. Tell Terry I said hello and that the car is still doing good other than the trans. I had a minor issue with the rear end that I was able to find and prevent a bigger issue. The adjustable upper control arm wasn't locked in place so the rear end had slowly walked back and was causing the tires to hit the wells. Got that fixed and put some NT05R tires on the rear. Now I'm going to get the trans taken care of and hopefully no more issues.
