Hello everyone, I joined this forum about 11 years ago when I picked up an 08 GT. Traded off the car two years later for various reasons (life), and have had some great vehicles since then.

I'm currently in a 17 F150, leased, and that lease comes due around thanksgiving. I'm turning the truck in and walking away, so I am now looking at what it gets replaced with. Every since my first truck in 04 and my first mustang in 09, I have gone back and forth on what I want. I'm looking at the Mustang GT and the Challenger Scat Pack, if I go the muscle car route. It's hard to see life without a truck because it's just so useful and versatile, especially in bad weather. But I really want another muscle car as well.

Currently, the plan is to try in the early spring to get another vehicle to replace the F150, if I go with a car. My question is, what's the general feeling in the mustang world? I haven't kept up too much with the changes through the years, but I know basic power numbers. How are the new automatics on the GT as far as performance and reliability? Same question on the manuals? Does anyone know if the 21 will be the same body style or will there be a redesign for 21? I saw something about the Mach 1 replacing the Bullitt.

Basically this post is just about general thoughts and common issues with the current Mustang GT. Thanks in advance.

I'm really new here, but might be able to help. I have had two late-model Challengers. My first was an '09 RT with the 5.7L and my current is a '15 RT Scat Pack 6.4L. If you like a big car, the Scat Pack is the way to go. Mine is a 6-speed manual, but I have read that the Automatic transmissions are exceptional. I really, really like the Scat Pack, and am not going to get rid of it.

My wife just bought a 2020 Mustang with the Ecoboost 2.3L. It has the 10-speed automatic and it is outstanding. It is lower and slightly smaller than the Challenger and possibly more nimble. Spring for the GT performance package if you get the 5.0. The 2.3L starts at 310 HP and has a lot of power for a four-cylinder. The 2.3L High Performance Package gives you more power and the EcoBoost® Handling Package provides even better handling. In fact, the turn-in of the 2.3L might be a bit better with the lighter engine.

Drive both cars and make a list of what you like and what you don't. If you like the Mustang, drive one with each engine and decide what your budget allows.

Hope this helps.

Hi, I also wish you good luck with your decision. IMO I would get a GT or the new Bullitt.

I'd love a Bullitt honestly. However, there none in the area, and I don't think I can swing the price tag. Money wise I'd like to be at a GT premium 400A with active exhaust.
