Hello all. I am a 71 mustang owner modified to look like a 67 gt500 and painted to look like the gone in 60 seconds movie. Put gt40p heads on it with shorty headers and have had nothing but underhood heat issues. Thinking about modifying a set of Hedman headers and wrap them. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. The heat so bad it made the fuel pump fail.

Just exhaust heat? Maybe run a cooler thermostat. How is your a/f ratio? Running too rich can also cause excessive engine heat

I have ran a 160 and 180 degree thermostat and getting ready to change to a 190. Engine has only 2000 miles on it so may still be breaking in. Afr runs around 13.3 to 13.8 at highway speed and 12.5 to 12.7 at idle. Dual core aluminum radiator with two 10 inch electric fans and shroud which I am switching to 12 inch fans this weekend.

If these changes don't fix the heat then this one will be up for sale.
