Also, stop trying to compare a civic to a mustang will ya. They aren't even close. As for high hp from 4 bangers and good mpg; I've had that. My STi put down 310whp (400 crank), and 333wtg (430 crank) and I still averaged around 20mpg. 24 on the interstate, driving 90mph - so it's possible out of a 2.5L 4-banger.
I know my STi was probably a 12.7 second 1/4 mile car. If you put a Mustang (or any domestic) into the 12's, you're not going to be pulling 24mpg like I could, so let's give up that talk. To each his own, we'll see if I like the GT!
I hope you give great reviews on the GT cause im basing my decision on a Stang on import enthusiasts who get the ford.

and also, about the civic mustang comparison... check my sig.

Welcome..I'm new here too...I drive an import, sorta. My current ride is a SRT-4 but after all the problems with it....the Mustang GT has made the short list of new cars that I am going to look at purchasing.

Actually, I think it's scarier - especially in the wet. I had tons of trouble the 2nd day with my Mustang GT, cause it was pouring rain, and I was getting used to the clutch engagement and all.
Plus, with my STi, I could manipulate the center differential (DCCD) from automatically set to a constant range of 50/50 split to 35/65. 65% to the rear creates lots of rear-drifting; trust me! It's making the car as close to RWD as possible - which was really fun for corners! lol.

Btw, initial notes after 1 week:
Stock stereo rocks, seats are pretty good too. Ride is smooth and still takes corners pretty good. Curbs/gutters are bad at low speeds. Car likes to rise during takeoffs, and downshifts - but that's compared to a very very tight STi suspension that I'm coming from. More to come.
