This might sound like a dumb question, but I just changed the oil and filter in my 2011 V6. Filled it with 6 qts of oil and after driving it for 2 days, the dipstick shows the oil past the overfill mark. There are 2 small holes on the dipstick and the oil is about 1/8" over the upper hole. According to the owners manual, engine damage could occur if oil level is above upper hole. My question is, should I drain some of the oil out? Seems weird, I filled it with 6qts. It's not like I took it to Walmart and had some novice change it.

 

You will be fine at 6 quarts, just leave it.

 

That engine calls for 6.1 quarts with a filter change. I don't understand how it could be showing over full?
