What can I do to prevent chrome exhaust tips from rusting up? I've used the cotton polish, which I assumed protects them, but they've still gotten rusty.

 

Supposedly wax will prevent rusting but im not a believer.... I just wonder if ya took them off, had them rechromed with a decent chrome cover if they wouldnt stay more like original, say like bumpers... Supposedly its not too expensive to do...
