Default Supercharging - Which Guages?

I've done the search and found little. It seems like boost and A/F are the two to get.

What does everyone else think?

I'm not a big fan of having extra guages to look at but can appreciate their use when needed. I understand the boost guage will show how much boost is currently being made but why do I need to know that? Just to know if I'm making boost or not? What exactly does the A/F guage show me? If I get the car tuned after the install, shouldn't my A/F mixture be where it needs to be? Is the A/f guage just going to show me when something get's f'ed and I need to shet her down?

Sorry for the dumb questions but I'm trying to add minimum clutter to my dash.

What are the dangers of losing fuel pressure while being supercharged?

I understand with nitrous that if you weren't protect by a fuel pressure shutoff, you could be supplying a heavy dose of nitrous with limited fuel and have a serious problem that would likely result in manifold shrapnel.

What happens in a supercharged scenario when there is not enough fuel? Is it as catastrophic as the same scenario in a nitrous application?

When the boost or fuel pressure guages show an abnormal reading, does that just mean shut it down immediately and figure out what the problem is or does it just mean things aren't runnning right and have it looked at eventually?

it really depends on how far out of whack it gets. If it's just a little bit, shutting off is not important, but may want to get it checked out by a shop in the near future. If it's totally whacked, then yes kill it before itkills itself... This type of a situation could easily lead to detonation especially with more boost or higher rpm driving. To be honest though, those a/f gauges are pretty worthless. Get the fuel pressure and boost. Have it dyno tuned, and you should be fine. IF she is hurting, she'll tell you. Just remember to be a listener. Women hate it when you don't listen, and they can get bitchy.

If you are gonna go boosted, get a wideband, boost gauge, and a fuel pressure gauge.... If any on these things go bad you will split the block or if you're lucky you'll just blow a headgasket...

Nitrous in the combusion chamber breaks down into oxygen (and nitrogen), so if you lose fuel pressure you have too much oxygen and lean out... same goes with supercharging... Nitrous adds oxygen chemically, supercharging adds oxygen mechanically.

If the boost gauge all of a sudden pops to 0, shut her off because you probably popped the air hose off somewhere, not a big deal... if the fuel pressure all of a sudden drops off, just get off the pedal, FAST... chances are you may have done damage by time you get the opportunity to get off it.

Edit: I'd agree on the fuel pressure/boost gauge combo. A wideband O2 is gonna run you $200+

get an egt gauge its like a wideband by measuing ur exaust gas temperature. Its a lot more acurate than the a/f ratio gauge

I have boost and a air/fuel.......Air fuel isnt goin to be stable unless you throw in wideband 02 sensore.....I didnt go with a fuel guage because I didnt want the fuel line mounted in the cockpit.......If you do a fuel guage do it on your hood.....
