waist of money!!!! the block you have will be fine for up to 650hp they say, for gods sakes just get the turbo son but i wouldnt stroke a 302 past 331, just not enough meat on the pistons with a 347

Everything I have read in the past few years says 550 HP on a stock block is about it. For street use and a 100K miler I might go 331, but if a track only car, that will see a freshening every 2 or 3 years, no problem with the 347. Yes, you can bore the Dart block .125 over x 3.400 inch sroke would give you 364 Cubic inches. You may be thinking about a 351 block. It can go up to 428 inches with a 4.125 bore.
One trick you can use on a stock block is to have it cryogenically frozen before the machining process. It strenghtens the block to handle a greater amount of power. See http://www.onecryo.com I used this process on my old 306 and ran over 700 HP through the block for about 3 racing seasons. The process costs about $1.25 per pound, so much cheaper than a Dart block, but you would have to convert to 4 bolt mains, which can also be done.
