Default installing a cat back...

I got a used (like new) borla cat back off ebay. It should be in on friday. Ive never installed a catback before...how hard is it? Ive got a 30 pack , basic hand tools and jack stands. Some friends are pretty good with cars too, they say it'll be no problem but I dont think they've ever installed one on a stang before...Any tips/suggestions?
thanks

I did mine a few times (didnt like the flowmasters) With the right tools it took me an hour. You start with removing lower shock bolts, then support the rear end and disconnect the upper torsion bars (on either side of the pumpkin) Let the rear end down slowly (not too far- watch out for the brake lines - should give you 6-8 extra inches to remove the catback without cutting it- over the hump) silicone the rubber hanging brackets to make it easy to slide old ones out.

Could have gotten a brand new Magnaflow system for $368, or a brand new Flowmaster system for even cheaper than the used Borla system you got.

Thanks for the info Brian. I know how much the flowmaster and magnaflows cost. I like the sound of the borla better. From what Ive seen the cheapest the borla goes for is over $500. I dont think i did too bad, unless theres some kind of problem with...we'll see on friday

Whoa! Sounds like alot of work for the install... I have very very basic knowledge and was told I could just do it myself with a friend. If I just resorted to cutting the old system off I don't have to disconnect anything, right? And the new system will slide in b/c it's 2 pieces rather than one, correct?

Thanks (Oh yeah, sounds like you got a nice deal)

I'd take it to your local exhaust shop, they'd probably do it for about $40-50 bucks and save you alot of hassle.

I installed mine myself. I still have to take it in to get minor adjustments. I'd just take it in and have them do it.

I was going to do a catted X and catback at the same time. From your experiences hpw much have the shops charged you? Is it worth it to try it myself if I'm installing both? Thanks for all the help. It's spring break now and I'd like to order/install parts!

Thanks,

Sam
