NITROUS HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!
Hi guys! Can someone help me with info on NITROUS systems? I have a 2002 gt and was wondering a few things? What kind of gains can i expect on a stock engine? Will it hurt my eingine in any way?? How much does this usually cost? Is it really worth it??? Thanks very much guys!
there is good informations at the top of this forum about nitrous, i think it may answer most of your questions, if not just ask. generally nirtous is a safe up grade to any stock car as long as you do it right!! AND not push the juice up too much. the gains are awesome, depending on how far you push it. i personally have a 93 gt with a 75 shot and many bolt- on mods and no problems... the engine is completely stock with 125000 on it and no problems. my car pratically grew up on nitrous and it still is running great. 100 shot of nitrous should bring your 1/4 mile time down a full second. i dont think that 100 shot on a stock engine is all that good for it, but people do it with ease. oh, and hit that nitrous when ever you want BUT make sure its during WOT other wise it just increases your chance of detonation. there is really good info out there on the internet... just do your homework.
when used in moderation (squirt no more than 1/2 of the hp your motor makes by itself) it is extremely safe. (100 jets are a good number 125 being about the max)
you can knock a full second ( about 10 car lengths) w/ about 80 hp shot of nitrous. that will cost you about $500 for the kit.
80 hp jets will get apx 12 full 1/4 mile runs from a bottle, and have 3 lbs left over, so a fill will be about $21
you can activate in a number of ways, you want to be over about 3000 rpms (not super important , 2000 is fine) but mainly be in WOT.
you will have a wot switch, either tps activated or a mechanical micro-switch that has a postive engagement.
you also have a manual arming switch, the system needs to be "on" and than also wot to spray, otherwise it's just your normal car.
but if you wer on it, and needed the extra , you could jsut flip the switch "on" and if the bottle was open and you were wot, it would immediately start to spray.
worth it ? ABSO-F@CKING-LUTELY
no more harm to the motor than anything that raises cylinder pressure to gain performance.
and for a fraction of the cost you have the same performance as a blower or turbo. but yeah, you gotta fill the bottle once in a while

Thanks very much guys! I really appreciate your info. I have a 2002 gt with 31,000 miles. I have several bolt ons mac cold air, 373 gears, diablo chip, full exhaust. I am just looking for a little something to make my *** cheeks pucker if you know what i'm saying. I just don't want to jeopardize my engine. I won't be taking it to the track but more for around town. anyway, thanks again for the info, if anyone some suggestions on this , i am all ears. Thanks guys!!

2. If set up correctly - no
3. how much does what cost? My NX nitrous kit was $570. My bottle refills are $4.00/lb
4. Yes - I'd say its more "worth it" than any other mod (as far as hp/$)
