i need some help with my 04 GT. I have a BBK CAI on it now but i hear that it only is robbing me of HP. is that the truth and if so what is the best intake to buy?

 

its not robbing any hp, but its not giving you any hp either. a CAI is nothing more then a piece of pipe, all brands are the same

if you notice there is a add banner that says " K&N adds 15hp to your 4.6L cobra!!"

1st they dyno the car with out the mod , hood closed , warm egine , no air flow,

then they put the mod on , dyno a cold engine with raised hood and lots of air flow.

I know at the track ill run 9.8 all day with a warm engine, then if i run with a cooled off engine i run 9.6

 

aaaaaaaactually. K&N adds quite a bit of power to a blown cobra. during a local stang club dyno day, somebody had an 03 cobra there. it was stock except for a catback. it dyno'd 400RWHP. they gave him just a K&N filter (yes, JUST the filter) and it dyno'd at 425RWHP on the second run.

 

what was the stock filter a SOCK? 25rwhp from a filter is insane! but it is forced induction.....

 

so instead of gettin a CAI i can just take out my air box and put a new K&N filter in there???

 

no, you remove the air silencer which is behind the stock air box. then you put a K&N in the stock box

 

so wuld i add any HP from takin the air silencer off and then do i leave the air box off after removing the air silencer????

 

you would gain hp if youre running a larger maf. stock from the factory, the maf and air silencer are the narrowest part of the intake. if your still have the small factory maf, removing teh air silencer wont do much but if your running a larger maf or even better, larger maf and tb you will gain hp.

leave the stock air box in the car after removing the air silencer. the air silencer is in the fender behind the stock air box
