easiest way to 600rwhp is to buy an 03/04 cobra and boost the hell out of it. turbo, KB, centri can all get you to 600+rwhp.

And most likely the cheapest also, all it would take is a blower swap to a KB, exhaust, CAI and a tune.

Could the cobra drivetrain handle the power, or would I still be looking at upgrading the drivetrain components? Do they make cobra antenna *****? That would seal the deal...

03-04 Cobras come with forged internals and a tough transmission. The only things that would need to be upgraded would be the input shaft on the trans and clutch and the rearend.

What about buying a GT500 later this summer? How does the GT500 fit into the price/performance mix we are discussing?

Base price of $45k plus a dealer markup of 15-30k and is rated at 500hp at the crank, a few mods and I feel certain it could obtain 600rwhp but that has yet to be realized.

stock, the gt500 is rouhgly the same speed as a 03/04 cobra, performance wise. it's a very heavy car even tho it has a ton of power. I don't think anyone really knows the potential of a built one yet.

I talked to a dealer earlier this month, they said they were charging 60K+ for a gt500 right now. you can get a cobra with low mileage for around 30K.

After reading the supercharger/'03 cobra article (http://www.kennebell.net/media/articles/SNAKEBITE.pdf) on KB's website, I think I have a pretty good idea of how my dream might come into existence.

How much boost is reasonable for daily driving? It is a little unclear from his website how much boost he recommends for "regular" activities.

do you have the car right now? if not build a 331, put a turbo on it, spend about $2000 on a trans and put all that into a fox body. you can get the car dirt cheap if you buy one with a blown motor or no motor at all since you will have to build your own motor to hold 600rhwp

My only issue with the fox body suggestion is reliability. Would the age/mileage of the drivetrain components, suspension, brakes, etc. become an issue for a daily driver? They would have to be overhauled as well as the new engine install. I don't know if I am quite sold on turbo either. I don't have much experience with it and would feel more comfortable with the s/c.

The '03-'04 cobra with a KB s/c sounds like the best plan so far. Even without the blower, a couple thousand dollars worth of bolt-ons, tweaks, and tuning to the snake will yeild a pretty solid result. I am not terribly excited about the IRS, but that can be replaced if necessary. Keep the suggestions coming!
