Default RE: Installation of x-pipe

Well you need some pentrating lube, 21" extension for 1/2 drive, 1/2 drive rachet, 14mm or 15mm (can't remember) six point deep socket 1/2 drive 1/2drive swivel (only really need this for one nut). Get the car up high enough to get the socket and drive on it and break it free. It will take some mucsle that is why you need the 1/2 drive. You might break one so be prepared to get another one from Ford or pick some up in case.

You may need to heat the bolts to.

There is only on gasket and it is on the passenger side flange kinda shaped like an oblong "O" make sure you take it off the manifold or out of the old h-pipe, if it is damaged you will need to replace it. Have to get it from Ford and my dealership didn't even know that there was a gasket there. Luckliy I didn't wreck the one that was there. So I didn't need a new one.

But yes it can be done in your drive way if you have the tools.

Is the flange on the new ones on that side different or something? Why would you need a gasket and why would there only be one of them not two or more?

Never put one on an Fox body, but on the new GT's the passenger side needs a gasket, it's not paper but a soft steel and mesh gasket. It sits inside a groove in the flange of the x/h pipe and clamps to the manifold. Not sure why, the rest of the system is a gasket less system (ball and cup joints). They must have problems sealing on that side.

Weird, probably a post production fix, maybe something didn't sit quite right and they had to add them.

Took me and a friend 3 hours to change my h-pipe to the x-pipe and put on a catback system. The longest part was trying to figure out how to get the passenger side exhast tube over the axle without taking the suspension apart. If I had to do it again 2hrs start to finish.

To just change the x-pipe it should take about 45mins for someone inexpericnced but good with tools.
