Off road X-pipe questions
I've been looking at Off Road X-pipes lately. Theres a ton of different brands out there. What would you guys suggest? Are they all about the same? I see the prices are close on most but some are a little more expensive than others.
There are a lot of good brands out there. Really depends on what you wanna spend. I got the SS Bassani for a little over $400 and its awsome. There is also BBK, magnaflow, and many others. If you ask a question like this then people are going to lean more towards what they have on their car, know what I mean.
Also know that ProChambers look like X pipe but doesnt sound or perform like one. Just to give you a heads up. Make sure you get a Stainless Steel one and dont forget about the MIL eliminators either. You have to have those with an off road pipe.

Also since Vfast mentioned H pipes you have to know the difference there. When you get your X pipe installed it will actually feel like you have lost poewr to the wheels that you had with the stock H pipe, while in fact you just move your HP and TQ higher in the power band so now you will have a lot more top end power (say like at three to six thousand RPM's) If you get an H pipe your car will have better take off and not as much top end and the H also has a distinctive growl to it that the X doesnt have.
IMO, The X pipe out performs the H bu the H sounds a little better!
And make sure you go at least 2 1/2" pipe! NO smaller!

Yep, I know about the MIL eliminators, I'll be sure to pick some up when I get the X-pipe. Still not sure which one I'm gonna get yet. I was set on the BBK but then I've run into alot more choices lately.
Thanks for the clarification on the difs between H and X pipes, I've always kinda wondered about that. I think i'd rather have a little more top end punch. Especialy when I go to shorter gearing as the shorter gears will give me back some low end grunt.

in all honesty you won't see little if any hp different with the h or x pipe in a near stock car but going to just a 2.5 inch exhaust will be a great help. the exhaust on the 302 from the exhaust valve to the tail pipe is restrictive..as is the maf when it's smaller than the T/B
What size X-pipes do I need to buy to match up to my stock pipes with the mufflers?
I'm not sure if I can afford to upgrade the rest of the exhaust to 2.5 at this time. But then again, I'm not sure what it would cost either.
