h-pipes
i recently put the new flowmaster super 40s on my just about stock 86 GT and they just dont sound as good as i thought they would... ive been thinking about putting on an o/r h or x pipe... whats the difference between the 2... any suggestions for good sound and performance?
After researching for my exhaust swap, I am pretty sure that you would not want to use an X pipe with flowmasters since they are chambered. I believe the general view around here is that an H pipe gives a little more torque in the lower rpm ranges while an X pipe gives a slightly better H.P. increase overall.
Also the H pipe is supposed to give an old muscle car sound while the X pipe gives more of an Indy car sound. But that also depends on the type of muffler it's paired with.

you can buy a kit from summit for like 50 bucks to make one. it isnt that hard either. all you need to do is cut the stock one and clamp (or weld) the h-pipe in place. i think jegs has the same thing also. but if you want to upgrade to 2.5", i think pace setter sells the cheapest (price) one. other than that, there is BBK, MAC (dont buy MAC, bad quality), and TONS of others. you will save yourself about $150 if you do the kit from Summit though
and how do you like the super 40 series mufflers????? im thinkin about putting them on my (future) stang.
