Saleen supercharger max power?
I've seen a lot of good stuff about how efficient the saleen supercharger is. People seem to say that if you're not going to go crazy with the boost that I'll be very happy with the saleen. What I haven't seen is how much power are people able to get out of a saleen supercharger? Are you not supposed to run any more boost than what their upgrade kit gives you? It says 475 horses for this kit, but can you go to a smaller pulley again and run even more boost? I'm just wondering why you never see 600 hp cars with the saleen supercharger.
the saleen blower is a whipple based blower, i would believe w/ the design utilized that if 1 had forged guts, you could easily hit the 600 mark. much like kevin stated though, i havent seen anyone do it with the saleen blower yet.
The biggest problem with the Saleen is the small intercooler that cannot keep up with high boost levels. Yes it has twin intercoolers but they are very small and KSS3V on here has already said that he started to loose HP at 16psi with his Saleen s/c.
The Saleen blower is capable of around 23-24 lbs of boost. I would say that you are not sacrificing that much efficiency until it is spun making around 17-18 psi. If you had a forged internal stang, properly tuned and set up, I would say that at 18 psi the car will be making around 650-700 rwhp. And it would not be that inefficient doing it.
So now I guess i'm confused. If the kenny bell has bigger intercoolers, then wouldn't it be more efficient at lower pressures as well? Am I wrong that the saleen is supposed to be among the most efficient at lower levels? Perhaps it's that the saleen is more efficient, but just doesn't have a large enough intercooler to support the higher boost levels????
Maybe I've figured out the issue here... is there actual data on supercharger efficiency? I'm just trying to figure out the most efficient configuration for making about 500 rwhp. I just wanna beat stock C6s on pump gas, w/o sacrificing too much fuel efficientcy or streetability.
