To install longtubes do you need to lift the motor to get them in? How long of a install time am i looking at to attempt this my self? and other hints/tips on this, or should i stay away from headers for a while? (i dont want to drop a few hundred in having them installed for me)

I'd go hookers. I've heard of people just removing the motor mounts and raising the engine to install them, but I dropped the k-member, and I wouldn't do it any other way - Its just much easier with more room. Expect the job to take 8-10 hours your first time. It would be a good time to change your clutch if its about time as well.

 

Took me TWO days, but I have no idea what im doing.
I unbolted the motor mounts and jacked the engine a bit, and I just wiggled em in there and bashed em with a rubber mallet.

Eventually, they went in.

 

I GOT THE LONGTUBES ON MY 99 COBRA ,,I GOT MACS BUT DONT GET THEM ! LONG SAD STORY...I WOULD GET THE BBK CAUSE YOU CAN BUY ALL THE STUFF TO MAKE WHOLE SYSTEM,,,I GOT THE COMPLETE MAC SYSTEM NO CATS GET CATS. I GOT MIL. LIGHT ELIM.AND LIGHT STILL COMES ON...[:@] YES GOT TO JACK MOTOR UP LEFT SIDE EASIER EVRN THOUGH YOU GOT TO REMOVE THE STR,SHAFT..RT , SIDE IS A PAIN IN THE BUTT ,,STARTER,,MOTOR MOUNT BRACKET HAD TO COME OUT..BUT DONE IN AROUND 6 HRS, JACK CAR UP AS HIGH AS YOU CAN YOU NEED THE ROOM!..JUST CUSS ALOY AND HAVE BAND AIDS ON HAND..MY 99 WAS DOWN ON POWER THAT YEAR THE EXHAST REALLY WOOK IT UP WITH NO COMPUTER TUNING ..IN BOOKS IT SAID THEY HAD 255 RWHP.SO IT PICKED UP ALOT AND SOUNDS GREAT..NOW I HAVE 291HP AND 293 TQ. ATFER THE EXHAST...ONLY MODS HERE ARE..EXHAST SYSTEM,K/N AIR FILTER.

Can you guys pass smog with logtubes where you are at?

 

i dont know yet we dont have visaule insp here they hook you up to a computer ,,obd plug 94 and later,,if check eng light on it wont pass ,,mines on now ,,i wonder if i disscont battery and hook it back up if it will pass ,the light wont come back on untill 60 miles ..????anyone know.

I can get a pretty good deal on the Hookers through one of the forum vendors..problem is cats or no cats...I won't pass visual inspection w/o cats regardless of milage.
