Default Just ordered my BBK Equal Length Shorties headers

Hey all I just ordered a new pair of ceramic coated BBK Equal length tuned shorties. Yeah I know long tubes would have been better all around, but I just can't afford a new midpipe and fairly expensive headers together. I am about to head back to college and there probably wont be any money available for modding for quite a while. Plus I got a pretty good deal on them finally. I have heard they do get pretty good gains even compared to the JBA Cat4wards. Ill let everyone know how much of a difference they have noticably made to the car. Has anybody heard about the realistic gains these offer or seen any dyno sheets? thanks!

No. but I think you will gain like 10 horses. Probably like a tenth in the quarter. Let me know if you feel the difference.

Where did you find those at? Every website I've been to and every catalog I've looked through only has equal lengths for the 5.0's. I would much rather get the Long tubes, but like you said... it would be a costly venture to have to thow down the loot for the headers and a new midpipe. Thanks.

They do make them for our cars. (bbk) They are the only company that I know about that sells them. They are $400 for the ceramic ones. Might as well get longtubes, especially if you can pass smog with them and your car is not lowered.

$400? Man you're right, may as well get the LT's for that price. Luckily for me Florida doesn't do a smog check anymore. But when I get my exhaust done I will get cats because with my being in the military I may end up getting transferred to somewhere that does do emissions testing. Thanks for the info.

jdaniel, I'm in the Navy and am stationed on the USS John F Kennedy. Deployed to the Persian Gulf right now and am trying to save up as much money as I can so I can start modding my car when I get back. Hey I've asked this question before, but I would like to get your opinion on it since you have one. I've got my mind set on the Decsecharger CAI with the meter. Would it be a noticeable difference if I were to get the meter forward with the meter as opposed to the full length system with the meter? Also, what kind of realistic gains would I be looking at with this system and leaving the stock TB... for now? Thanks.

Well if you have the tower strut brace then it would be a waste of money to get the whole kit because you woun be able to use the tube. You will have to use the original flex tube that Ford uses stock. I got the Meter and the timing adjuster done at the same time and it gave me a really good punch. The ProM 85mm MAM and the fender well kit with the stock flex tube will give you a gain of about 10 to 15hp. Best thing to do is get the exhaust done first. The less back pressure on the engine then the more you can take in. LT headers, good X pipe and a 2 1/2 catback will give you an incredible gain of about 30 to 35 hp. Then work on your intake. I was also deployed for a year (March 03 to March 04) and when I bought my car I did almost all my mods at the same time.

That makes perfect sense about getting the exhaust done first. I guess I was just looking for a cop out because exhaust is so expensive. haha! But I can't argue with those gains. I guess I just need to buck up and slap down the loot for the exhaust. Thanks for the info. Hey I do have one more question, for now anyway. Did you have to get any tuning done when you put on the underdrive pullies? I've read some posts where people said the car idles rough when they get the pullies put on. That's another mod I'm looking to get done eventually. I just want to milk as much power out of the 4.6 that I can and still have it N/A. Thanks again.

Not at all. I had mine put on about three months ago and NEVER have had a problem. You will hear a lot of BS about them from people who have never used them and just repeating hear-say. $150 bucks for 10hp is an awsome upgrade. Just remember that if you ever go FI you will need to put the original pullies back on so keep the stock ones.
