How is the tune that comes with the mongoose for all of you guys that have the mongoose kit?

I guess this is a good dilemma to be in though haha. I'm leaning on the mongoose at the moment because A. can stay out of boost while cruising and driving around town(even though i wont around town n e ways) and B. its gonna be a little better on the traction side of things at the strip i'm guessing.... but i still love the look of the KB and somewhat rarity of them floating around (at least where im from.

very valid point triisomy..... the tune is the biggest thing im concerned about at the moment.... I believe the mongoose kit comes with an xcal2 with the tune also correct? Then i could get it more fine tuned at a dyno with the xcal2 if needed... then i can sell my diablo..

IMO the KB is overpriced... seems stupid to spend over 6k on a s/c when you can get a mongoose or procharger for LESS then 4k... either way your motor can only handle X amount of power... either one can get you there.... just my opinoin... but KB's do look cool.

You do realize that gas mileage shouldn't change much with either kit if you dont get on it. Just because you're over 2k in the rpms doesn't mean you'll automatically see boost. That's what the built in bypass valve is for. You could take it to redline without even seeing boost.
+1

Not a good reason b/c so can the KB as long as you are not into it. It's not gonna give you whip-lash from casually accelerating from a stop light, lol.

But in my opinion, go MPH Mongoose for $$$ sake. I would get that if I ever supercharge, except Id get an in-house dyno tune.

If I had enough money I would defanitely buy the kenne bell. I love vortech's and procharger's and they even have fast 1/4 mile times. But the kenne bell is just so damn cool honestly. Even people who dont know mustangs tell me to get a kenne bell. That whine...just everything about that blower is cool. And I really think full boost by 2k would be WAY too much fun on the street. KB for the win imo.

They make a mongoose kit that uses the KB also...

Based on price, go vortech. The KB would be cool as hell but the price isnt justified.

since when is price such an issue? the mongoose is 3800 said n done... the non intercooled 6psi KB is 3900 which puts the car around 360ish rwhp and the 9psi intercooled is 5000 a thousand more and is about 400whp....... I would buy the 6psi because 400 is pushing it IMO..... so the price is the same... dunno where the money difference is coming from. and the KB also comes with injectors, boost a pump, etc.

Exactly. For $100 extra you get a more inefficient blower that will only be capable of 6 psi. The vortech would be around 8-10 psi depending on your tuner. IMO, intercooled is the only way to go.

But its your choice. If you are set on the KB, then why did you even bother asking?

I'm not i was just resolving the issue of cost saying its not that big of a factor between the 2. plus if i wanted to upgrade from the 6psi i could get a diff. pulley and the intercooler setup for about a grand. and am not set on buying the KB, i am really in a toss up. probably what i feel like in a week haha
