What are they?

 

cut outs are a slip in the exhaust before the mufflers. when you open the cut outs, the exhaust goes out the cut outs instead of the mufflers. this makes the exhaust very loud cause its like having no muffler and it eliminates all back pressure. i had electric cut outs on my f-250. at the push of a button i could run long tubes and then the exhaust dumped. it was loud and at night you could see a hint of a flame at the cut outs. the engine was a 351m and had a huge cam though

 

So cut outs is not something that you would put on a pretty much stock engine?

 

I wouldn't bother with them on a stock engine and in a lot of states, they are illegal and your car won't pass inspection with them on either. You could also get a ticket for excessive noise if you get caught using them on the street too.

 

cut outs would be great on a stock engine...like roundman said, i woudlnt use them on the street. but at the track, just open them up!

 

i wouldnt bother. if you have to pass smog, you wont be able to with cut outs. you will fail the visual.

 

There is always around passing inspection. Like a $50 dolla bill! LOL

In MA, second strictest state aside from CA & CT, cut-outs are legal on a car as long as they aren't opened on public roads.
