Default rev limiter

I just got some new found power with an intercooled S trim on my 2002. I am at 400 rwhp/390rwtq. Man, its hard getting used to this much power. I am having way too much trouble shifting fast enuf in 1st and 2nd even with my raptor shift lite. I keep reving way too far into redline. It revs high for a split second until i realize it, but i think i have seen the tach go way to the end (6500-7k)which CANT be good. I dont think my shop set the rev limiter because i would have hit it.

Is it bad to have a rev limiter when your boosted? I would think since the limiter would cut off fuel in high boost you would go waaaay lean and risk blowing your motor. I am wondering if that is why they didnt set a rev limiter.

The most important question, if my car still runs and sounds fine, do you think i did any damage to anything, is there anyway to tell?[/align]

check your plugs, oil and coolant. also watch your exhaust in the mirror under boost. rev limiters are fine. you need to upgrade to a ignition rev limiter. having the spark cut it short is much more safer than it going totally lean, especially with boost. good luck

you should be fine if you only do it a couple times. if your shifting is slow, try setting the shift light sooner so you have more time to shift. then as you get better at it with practice, set the shift light later.

rev limiters are ok on boosted motors. i would prefer a spark limiter then one that cuts fuel. on my car i have both. the ems pulls fuel and the msd box pulls spark
