my setup flutters, but only when I completely let off the gas after hauling ***. If I'm just driving at high RPM but at somethin glike half throttle, it sounds normal. But if I let off the gas after getting on it hard, you can hear a little flutter. Most likely because the throttle plate is closed and it has nowhere else to go.

I figured it was fine as long as it doesn't sound that way under normal conditions (driving at high RPM but less than WOT)
My 02 GT bucked or surgedbadly in any gear over 3000 rpm as soon as I eased off the throttle to hold rpm. I was running the stock Vortech Bypass Valve -- that little cheap black plastic one. Don't feel any more surging with the bigger valve.
See, I can ease off the gas and hold the RPM and it doesn't curge at all..just the constant "whoosh" sound like it is supposed to make. It only flutters when I completely come off the gas while still at a high RPM...

Like if I go from 5000 RPM and take my foot off the gas to close the TB plate...then it will flutter as it surges a little.
I see. I didn't experience that -- which wouldn't have been that bad. My 02 GT bucked like it was missing.

I'm only running 10 PSI of boost vs. your 14. Maybe that's why I don't have a bad compressor surge.

My 5.0 on 6 PSI surged. Not only can surgeing hurt the motor, but it can also hurt the supercharger. Think about pressurized air hitting a closed throttle body and then surgeing back into the supercharger impellors............Not good. The more boost that is in the intake tract, the bigger BOV or the bigger boost by-pass valve.

the one that came with my vortech kit
Now I know your playing with me. Your Mustang surges. Bet that. You going mess up your valves and head gaskets over time. Wait and see.

And if by some wild chance you not playing with me. How is that so running 13psi and that cheap, shi## valve?
you really need to cut the crap. i know what's on my car and my tuner would have noticed my car surging when it was on the dyno while it was getting tuned as well. my car is running fine. even chris said not to waste my time/money with another bypass until i put on my t-trim if the one i have is working.

Not a problem.

Outstanding run down.Very professional. I hope one day you will become a Moderator on this forum. You have all the attributes for it.
I don't spend enough time on this forum to be one, nor would I really want the responsibility. Look at my join date compared to my post count, then look at nanaki's. He's alot better suited for this than myself. All I'm really here for is to help people out for the most part & ocassionally you learn something new. I had been doing research and kits for quite a long time, even planned on making a company for custom kits because I was tired of seeing kits that look like they were just thrown together with no research involved, but it went under because I most of the money trying to make a more & more efficient kit on a v6 & now I'm stuck with about 9 s/c pulleys, lots of T3/T4 turbo flanges, & lots of thickwall weld L's [8D]. As of now I just build custom kits for people I know & don't know. The latest is a supercharger kit for a 5.0 (non intercooled) using a roots I'm porting & rebuilding, this will be my second roots kit. I told him I'd do it for $600 total ($550 parts $50 labor), but he's paying off another car he bought atm. He said just to hold onto the s/c for a while. In any case I don't think it would be too successful. Not because of lack of knowledge on the subject, but I don't believe in screwing people over & lots of company's charge over $1000 labor for just one kit. I asked a few companies what they would recommend and the lowest one said was around $700 labor per kit, seemed a bit outrageous to me. The guy that recommended that price is making $250,000 a year, Nice paying job , but he's a really helpful guy.

Not like the car will break down. It's just something to look into buying in the future.

Btw, neither of you have to spend $500 to buy a big valve. You can easily go to a junkyard to fix it. Nothing wrong with running 2 bypass valves. Can be cheap too. I bought a dsm bypass for $5 from the local one here, they're even metal. You just need the valve & hoses to run it back. You can splice the other bypass valves vacuum line & run the 2nd off of it aswell. I'm sure welding a flange on would be pretty cheap at a machine shop if you can't weld. And you can buy some gasket material for pretty cheap aswell or use some type of gasket maker.

My $5 dsm valve for my junkyard project car (brown notch mustang in the background of my sig).
P.s. don't make fun of my two tone carpet [8D]

Nanaki, are you running a non intercooled setup?
The surge isn't just related too boost, but air volume aswell. Non intercooled setups don't experience it nearly as bad if at all(way smaller volume of air) with the same size valve is the reason I'm asking.
Same concept as having a huge air compressor and small one both filled with 20psi. If you vent them both with the same size valve, the small one gets the pressure out fast, the big one can't get the big volume of air out very fast.
Awkward though if you both run intercooled setups with the same intake plumbing.
