what would be better
really im leaning more to a nitrous kit but what is better a supercharger or nitrous. i hear that 2001 cobra blow up with a supercharger i just want a light nitrous kit and purge kit for an 2001 mustang cobra if anyone knows of the best kind of kit and a dealer in houston and does slaters mustangs have it.
thanks

ok first off, nitrous is great, but i for one dont want to refill a bottle all the time. 99-01 cobras have the same bottom end as GTs. they have about a 450rwhp tolerance and everything after that is pushing it. if you put a blower on it just keep it under 450rwhp and you wont have any problems. the only downside to a blower is you wont have as much tq as the nitrous. im happy with my blower and i havent had any problems. one good thing to keep in mind, get it tuned, whether you go blower or nitrous, get it dyno tuned and you should be ok.
but i vote S/C

Nitrous is really inexpensive compared to an S/C. However you have to ask yourself what you really want to do. Do you want the power constantly there for you to use all the time? Or do you just want it to use at the strip or on occasion. Right now I have a 75 shot that I use when I go to the strip and sometimes when 'm out cruising around. It is very fun and actually really easy to install and maintain. I did not go all out on my nitrous set up because I knew I would be adding an S/C in the future. For $600- 800 you can get a kit, install it and enjoy. Some guys have window switches, mulitple purges and extravagant set ups, but it really boils down to what YOU want.
If you have the money do an S/C. If you can't afford it right now, choose your weapon.

a s/c is definently more fun considering the sounds, and the looks of it imo, but you will put down better numbers with nitrous. both are equally safe if done right. you will have that constant power with the s/c, compared to filling up your nitrous bottle but you have to think. with constant power comes constant wear on your motor. its all in what you want. i chose nitrous.

aye. a centri only begins to boost at around 3k rpm, which is generally when you start spraying. if you spray, you have all of that power right away, whereas a centri you won't reach max boost til about redline.
some people get away with 450, but their cars are generally ticking time bombs. they have 05+ GTs putting down 500+RWHP that are still running strong, but my stepdad's blew with 408 after the final run after tuning to make sure everything was good. oh, and 99-01 cobras don't have the same bottom end. they have a forged crank.

I faced the same decision and was oh so close to a nice NX setup. If it weren't my daily driver and more of a track car it would be running an NX kit for sure. I decided on the SC because I am lazy and my math said it wouldn't take all that long to eclipse the SC in price for what the refills cost by me and how much I would be using it. Figure out what you want out of your car and that will determine which way you should go.
