Which Exhaust System??
I have a 2004 Mustang and my next modification is going to be a exhaust system. I know that Gibson/MagnaFlow are more so performance and that Flowmaster is sound. I'm not sure which way I want to lead my car, since I already installed a flat black GT hood on there and did some other paint modifications. In the future I want to install some vertical doors, so maybe I should go torwards sound and looks rather than performance. Anywho, should I just put a dump right after the muffler or extend the pipe all teh way to the back (I was thinking more so the dump because Flowmaster is more sound than go, so it would be louder with the dump?). Just wanted to get some feedback on the topic. Thanks
are you going with a catback are just a muffler if i was you i would go with a o/r h pipe and a flowmaster catback so you would get some looks out of it and a nice sound
Stangpower96... I'm probably going to get some catbacks, but don't know for sure. I have a friend that is going to hook me up with a system, but he just asked me if I wanted Gibson/MagnaFlow (performance) or Flowmaster (sound). I plan on making it dual exhuast. By the way what is a o/r H pipe. I know what a regular H pipe is, but is that one different or the same? Thanks
4fit?...I'm probably not going to be going out the back because the pipes would have to go up and over the axle and that would reduce the sound? It's either going to be dumps or possibly out the side before the tires. I just had some front end work done and was going to get a Cobra R Front Bumper, but it wouldn't have fit my GT hood that I have on now, plus it was another $300 or so, lol.

Take a look at this link. A full X crossover and V8 catback. The X crossover doesn't improve scavenging on a V6 but if you have other performance mods you certainly can improve flow with this 'true' dual exhaust.
Exhaust: Magnaflow is in my opinion the best way to go. Not only do you get performance but if you are looking for loud, I think they have a Magnapack system which is even louder than flowmaster.
X or H Pipe - The catback is nice but adding an X or H pipe will give you more of a throaty noise during acceleration. You lose a little of your bottom end acceleration with one but it definately picks up in higher RPM's. I have a magnaflow X pipe with Cats on my Cobra so I dont need to worry about taking them out when smogging.
To dump or not to dump? If you dump your exhaust just remember that the sound waves bounce off the ground back into your car. I know it may sound nice, but you can forget listening to the radio at lower volumes. If you keep your pipes, just remember to get a Magnapack. Your exhaust will be loud and wont interfere with cabin noise as much.
Just a tip - have the mechanic spot weld your X or H pipe when installing it. This will prevent the bolts from coming loose and rattling.
Hope this helps,
Dave
