Default Reliability with blower

Hey y'all...so next weekend I'm going to be installing my blower, and getting the car tuned by a very reputable tuner in my area. Even with a good tune, and limiting the car to a "safe" amount of power (400?), how reliable are things going to be? I just read a thread made by someone making 420/400 and he said he blew it up. I'm starting to get doubts as I can't afford a rebuild right now or anytime soon. I hope I'm not setting my self up for big regrets.

What have y'all experience been? Are there constant problems? Should the engine hold with a good tune and about 400rwhp?

I make 430 rwhp with 10 PSI of boost from a Procharger and a 100-wet shot of nitrous. Been that way for about a year now and haven't had any problems. (I'm around 330 hp without the spray.)

The thing to rememeber... as long as you aren't WOT, then the supercharger doesn't do anything other than look and sound pretty. It only kicks in and puts the stress on your engine when you are on it hard. And even then, with a good tune you've got nothing to worry about.

you may be referring to my stepdad. he had an 06 that blew up on the dyno with like 408RWHP with a vortech @ 8psi. it was the final run to make sure everything was good and it popped. 2 rods went bye bye. i ran 410RWHP on my 04 GT for a long time and now i'm all decked out at 16.5psi.

there's never a guarentee, even at the safe levels.

If you get a good safe tune you will be able to hold 400rwhp perfectly fine. The stories you hear about peoples engines blowing with those amounts of hp either had no tune, or a crappy one. Its all in the tune

not true. as i said, it was the final run on the dyno and it just sent 2 rods. it was just a bad motor in general, which they actually got ford to replace with a brad new one. i've never had a problem from the shop and ran 410RWHP for the longest time, then 467, now 531. also, a tune can't save your engine if your foot is going to be on it all the time. don't give people false hope saying "it's all in the tune".
