what type cat back do i go with?
have you HEARD a 32v 4.6L with borla's? It's OBSCENELY loud at all throttle levels. I chose the magnapacks because I can keep the dB's down if need be but a WOT it will make the women and children hide, but I have a 16v. Check out svtperformance.com, you'll sound like a cobra's exhaust at idle for the most part and they have a ton of people who post sound clips and videos. hope it helps

Actually flowmaster and MAC both make stainless steel systems. Dont listen to some of these people who are so obsessed with magnaflow and think its the best thing ever and there can be nothing better than it. It really depends on what you want your car to sound like. It is true mufflers like magnaflow which are straight through mufflers will out peform chambered mufflers such as MAC or Flowmaster. Borla is also a straight through muffler, it is a tad bit high priced but it performs well, only other straight through muffler I would suggest is magnapacks. There is only a 2-3 rwhp difference between a chambered muffler and straight through muffler so when you buy, personally I would buy for sound more than performance because there is not much of a difference between the two. As far as sound goes, chambered mufflers are gonna give you a deeper rumble than straight through mufflers. IMO since you say you want a combination of sound and performance I would consider the Borla's or Magnapacks. The best performing muffler on the market is either the Borla XS mufflers or the dynomax mufflers.

Flows and Mac = not stainless = going to rust
Borla, magnaflow, SLP, bassani = stainless = not going to rot away

But I have never been a fan of Flowmaster or any chambered muffler. They sound OK at idle but at WOT they just sound, yuk. They drone in the interior and hurt performance.
(Not directed at you, you just made me think of it)My favorite is it's only 2-3rwhp more. So why bother. I have heard that so many times. If the people figured out how much HP they cut off just to save a few bucks. 2-3 here, 2-3 there, another 2 here. Guess what? You just had to spend money on a TA or UD to make up the horse power you snipped off every part you installed instead of adding to what you could of had. A good price for HP is 1 HP should cost between 25 and 35 bucks. 50bucks to get the 2-3hp is worth it any day. But id depends on what you want. I am the type of guy that will sacrifice comfort for performance.

At additional cost that but you over the price of Magnaflow and SLP systems, from what I have seen.

Thats cool, everybody has there own opinions, but dont go around saying stuff like flowmaster and MAC arent staintless steel when they are.
Well if that is the case then why didnt you but the best performing mufflers on the market? No magnaflow/magnapacks are not the best performing mufflers. Like I said Borla XS and dynomax both outpeform magnaflow. Not directing this at you I'm just tired of people saying crap about chambered mufflers and other systems when they havent done any research on them, all they know is what people have spoon fed them from some forum.
Anyway we can sit here all day and argue about which one to go eith but i thing in the long run im still debating wether to get borlas or flowmasters. does anyone know where i can hear clips for them on my car.
omg he never said MAGNAFLOW or MAGNAPACKS. Now get that through your heads.Somepeople just don't care fr magnaflow products believe it or not. he said Borla or Flowmasters. My vote is Flowmaster. I just love that sound they give off!!!
