Are down sides to having a side exhaust put on?

Some states don't let you move your tailpipes. IE, if they exit over the axles, they have to exit there, can't be moved anywhere else in the car.

Other than that, there aren't many downsides..might lose alittle ground clearance but I don't imagine it'll be much different than stock.

sometimes. one downside is you need a v6 rear bumper cause the gt bumper has cutouts. two, your ears might bleed.

upsides. one, your ears might bleed. two, lots of axle clearance

There is a performance downside as well. The side exhaust kits (as used by Roush) are more restrictive. The inlet pipe goes into the muffler, then exits out on the same side. It has been shown that this system hurts your flow characteristics vs pipes exiting through the back. Typical Roush deal, all looks, less added performance.

Damn..it exits out the same side....that sux...theres no way to improve that?

Put the muffler further back??

i messed around with a side exhaust over christmas break it sounded really good and looked nice but the pipes scraped on EVERYTHING. I had them all the way up as close to the underbody as i could get them and still scraping on every drive way. Naw i have a vortech muffler and jus turndowns and i really like this
