Default Blower Problems

I'm posting this for a buddy of mine. He has an 05 GT 5-speed and he just put a supercharger on it about 2 weeks ago. He's having a lot of problems now. When he pushes in the clutch the RPM's don't drop and a lot of the time it will rev up on its own to about 3grand. It continually revs up and down at idle and is running extremely rough. When he puts the pedal down though it runs really strong like there are no problems. It's like his throttle is stuck or something, he's been told it's a vacuum leak but we've checked everywhere and can't find anything. If anyone has any ideas please help me out. Thanks a ton!

That sounds like a vacuum leak to me! Bust out a can or two of carb cleaner and start spraying it around his intake manifold and vacuum lines. Good luck!

Will this show where the leak is at?

yes, when you get close you should have a change in idle when it sucks in the carb cleaner. Does he have a boost gauge that shows vacuum? if so what does it read at idle?

Yeah i would assume he should have a boost guage, thats a really common way to tell if you have a vacuum leak with a forced induction system too but carb cleaner is the most commonly used way =) trust me. =P

He said his gauge reads below zero at idle and when he gets on it it goes back into the postives. I'm guessing that that definitely means vacuum so we'll see if the carb cleaner will turn anything up.

that doesnt tell us anything. 18in/hg would be good, but 2in/hg would mean a leak yet both are below 0. we need an actuall number

Of course it reads below 0 at idle. That's kinda how an engine works, LoL. Hell, it should read below zero 99.9% of the time.
