Hey fellas, im trying to get my car some what drivable, i had installed a procharger p1sc intercooled ki, now i need to retard the timing! Can anyone help me out here? my car backfires when im gettin on it? i never messed with the timing but i thing the garage advanced it a little a while back when i was trying to pass emissions. I need some help her! i want to start fresh. i got number 1 TDC i have the plugs gapd at .35 now where do i go from there? i know i have to disconnect the little plug in the wireharness before i do the retard on the timing? but thats all i know? can anyong give me so help?

how much boost are you running. all you need to do is loosen the distributor hook up a timing light start the car point the timing light at the balancer turn the distributer til the timing pointer is hitting between 6 or 8 degrees depending on the boost.

You're not using platinum plugs by any chance are you? Or are you using copper ones?

Im using a 8lb pully and im running autolite plugs. Now my one buddy said to start fresh on the timing, said get number 1 TDC and go from there. But once i get number 1 TDC then what do i do?

Did you pull out the distributor for some reason during the installation? I don't see any reason to go through all of that if you never touched anything other than adding a supercharger. Just follow these steps here to retard the timing.

Yea i figured that!!! i got it! all i needed was a good timing gun and remove the chip in the harness! i got it. I set the timing a 8* do you think i should go lower? o and my buddy said it wouldnt hurt to run platnum plugs?!?!
